Will Yash Dayal not be able to play the next IPL season for RCB? hanging sword of arrest
Yash Dayal’s anticipatory bail application rejected: A special POCSO court in Jaipur has rejected the anticipatory bail plea of Indian cricketer Yash Dayal. Yash Dayal is a left-arm fast bowler who played an important role in Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) winning their first IPL title in 2025. Justice Alka Bansal delivered the verdict on December 24, 2025, emphasizing the seriousness of allegations of sexual assault on a minor.

Actually, this case is related to a complaint lodged at Sanganer Sadar Police Station in Jaipur, where the victim, who was a minor at the time of the alleged incidents, has accused Dayal of taking advantage of her dreams in cricket. She claimed that the bowler seduced her with offers to advance in the game, subjected her to emotional blackmail, and had physical relations without consent on multiple occasions for about two and a half years. It is alleged that these incidents took place in hotels in Jaipur and Kanpur. Investigators have identified a variety of potential evidence, including digital conversations, photographs, videos recovered from the complainant’s device, telephone records and hotel booking documents. These things are being investigated under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS).
In his bail plea, Dayal vehemently rejected these claims, calling them baseless and motivated with the intention of harassing him and taking advantage of him financially. He described himself as a dedicated professional athlete and expressed his willingness to fully cooperate with the authorities in the investigation. His lawyer, Advocate Kunal Jaiman, emphasized that any conversation with the complainant took place in open, public places and never in private. The defense counsel further argued that the young woman had claimed to be an adult, had asked for financial help for personal difficulties, and had later increased her demands, suggesting that the complaint was part of a larger extortion scheme.
On behalf of the prosecution, Public Advocate Rachna Mann replied that the accused repeatedly tried to establish physical contact by luring her with false career opportunities in cricket. He emphasized that irrespective of any purported agreement, the consent of a minor has no validity under Indian law, especially in POCSO cases. The Jaipur case is the second serious allegation against the Uttar Pradesh-born bowler this year. An earlier FIR lodged at Ghaziabad’s Indirapuram police station in July included allegations of sexual exploitation by deception, in which the Allahabad High Court had stayed the arrest proceedings. Soon after, a complaint was registered in Jaipur, in which stringent sections of POCSO were initially imposed since the complainant was a minor.
27-year-old Dayal has been a well-known face in domestic and IPL cricket. RCB retained him ahead of the 2025 season, and he performed brilliantly, including crucial spells that helped the franchise end its long wait for an IPL trophy. With anticipatory bail rejected, the bowler may now face arrest as the investigation progresses. He has not been selected by Uttar Pradesh for the domestic tournament and was also not present in the UP T20 League earlier this year. This also raises the question why RCB retained this controversial cricketer despite the seriousness of the allegations before IPL 2026.
