Reactions of family and colleagues after Amitabh Bachchan’s accident
New DelhiHis accident was the worst time for Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan and his family, In July 1982, Amitabh was shooting for the film Coolie in Bengaluru and during this time he suffered such a serious injury that it became life-threatening, The actor’s condition was so serious that he was taken to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai via air ambulance, After some time, people from the industry and family started coming to meet him, Actor’s father-in-law (incident involving Tarun Kumar) and famous journalist Tarun Kumar (actor’s father-in-law) Bhaduri also went to the ICU to see Amitabh along with his daughter Jaya, The entire incident during this period was narrated by Tarun Kumar himself in one of his articles, Tarun had also written that if Amitabh had not survived, then who would people have blamed?
If Amitabh doesn’t survive…
Tarun Kumar considered himself an atheist. He told about this entire incident in his article. He had written that when he got the news of Amitabh’s accident, some time back he had gone with his daughter Jaya to see his brother in London. Then the people of Lucknow returned home. He got the news of Amitabh’s accident and immediately left for Mumbai. He told that at that time the whole country was praying for Amitabh. And Amitabh survived. He wrote, ‘We left for Mumbai from Lucknow. People all over the country were praying for Amitabh’s recovery. This was an unprecedented event. The whole country was praying for a man. But that’s what happened. Amitabh survived. My wife and millions of people said it was ‘God’s grace’. I don’t agree with this. I told my wife and Jaya that if Amit had not survived, everyone would have blamed the doctors. Now that he has survived, why didn’t he praise the doctors? He had no answer. They thought it was a miracle from God. I don’t think so. It was a medical miracle at Breach Candy Hospital.’
Jaya used to wear an amulet around her neck
Further, Tarun Kumar had also told how his daughter Jaya had faced this bad time with strength. Tarun Kumar wrote about daughter Jaya Bachchan in his article, ‘Jaya should have been seen during the days when Amitabh was hospitalized. She looked very calm and composed. But at the same time, he did everything people asked him to do. They wore various beads and amulets and prayed fervently for Amit’s recovery. She showed courage on the outside, but on the inside she was ready to accept the truth and face the worst situations.
