Talk on the discussions spread over rejection of ‘Sita and Geeta’

Mumtaz said that at that time Ramesh Sippy was a big producer-director and she felt that she would be able to do the film at a low fee. But Mumtaz was at the peak of her career at that time and she was continuously getting films, so she did not think that this film would bring any significant change in her career. Later this film was done by Hema Malini and proved to be a superhit.
Mumtaz also clarified that she liked the story of the film, but she did not want to lower her price in the golden phase of her career and she has no regrets on her decision. In the early 1970s, Mumtaz was among the highest paid actresses of Hindi cinema. Hit films like ‘Do Raaste’, ‘Bandhan’ and ‘Khilona’ made her a top actress.
