Red Fort and major religious places on high alert, security agencies issue warning
New Delhi: Once again security agencies have become alert regarding terrorist conspiracy in the national capital. On the basis of intelligence input, it has been told that the Red Fort and major temples of the country are the target of terrorists. Agencies have expressed apprehension that a conspiracy is being hatched to carry out a bomb blast in front of the Red Fort in Delhi.
According to sources, a temple located at Chandni Chowk can also be a possible target. Security agencies say that Lashkar-e-Taiba is planning an IED attack. After the explosion in a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan on February 6, an attempt can be made to carry out a major terrorist incident in India with the intention of revenge.
A big explosion has happened in front of the Red Fort before
In November last year, a massive car bomb blast took place outside the Red Fort. A car laden with explosives was blown up by a suicide bomber, in which many people lost their lives. This attack had raised serious questions on the security arrangements of the capital.
Now again after the suspicion of a blast conspiracy in the same area, security arrangements have been tightened. Recent investigation has revealed that the cables of the captured ‘white collar’ terrorist module were linked to this conspiracy.
Dr. Umar-un-Nabi was the mastermind of the conspiracy
According to the investigating agencies, the mastermind of this conspiracy was Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, who was trying to recruit another suicide bomber. However, the person concerned decided to back out of the conspiracy citing his family responsibilities during the apple harvest season, leading to the failure of the attempt.
Joint action of Srinagar Police and NIA
Srinagar Police and National Investigation Agency (NIA) have together busted a parallel terrorist module run by Nabi. Investigation revealed that the person who was driving a vehicle laden with explosives near the historic Red Fort on November 10 was also Nabi. More than 12 people died in that explosion.
Interrogation of the arrested suspects revealed the recruitment strategies of the doctor-turned-terrorist prophet. On the basis of this information, NIA has arrested Shopian resident Yasir Ahmed Dar.
