Relief news: Another tanker Jag Ladki leaves for India with crude oil

New Delhi15 March. Amidst the tension in West Asia, there was a relief news, when India’s oil tanker Jag Ladki safely emerged from the crisis area. This tanker, which left Fujairah Port in the United Arab Emirates, is loaded with about 80,800 tonnes of Murban crude oil. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways gave this information on Sunday.

According to the statement issued by the ministry, the ship and all the Indian sailors on board are safe. The statement further said that all Indian sailors present in the area are safe and no untoward incident involving Indian sailors has been reported in the last 24 hours.

2 LPG carrier ships – Shivalik and Nanda Devi en route to India

It is noteworthy that earlier, two Indian flagged LPG carrier ships, Shivalik and Nanda Devi, carrying approximately 92,712 metric tonnes of LPG, have transited the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday. They are currently on their way to India. They are scheduled to reach Mundra port on Monday and Kandla port on Tuesday.

Currently, 22 Indian flagged ships with 611 sailors are present in the western region of the Persian Gulf. The Director General of Shipping is continuously monitoring the situation in coordination with shipowners, Recruitment and Placement Agencies (RPSL) and Indian Embassies.

Since its inception, the DG Shipping Control Room has responded to over 2,995 phone calls and 5,357 emails seeking assistance and information from seafarers, their families and people associated with the maritime sector. DG Shipping has so far ensured the safe return home of 276 Indian seafarers from the Gulf region, including 23 seafarers who returned from airports and other regional locations in the last 24 hours.

The Ministry of External Affairs is also keeping a close eye on the changing situation in West Asia and the Gulf region. The safety and welfare of Indian citizens in the region is the government’s top priority. A dedicated control room of the Ministry of External Affairs is continuously working to respond to queries of Indian citizens and their families, while also coordinating with State Governments and Union Territories.

The statement further said that all Indian missions and embassies in the region are working round the clock (24×7), running helplines, maintaining contact with Indian community organizations and issuing advisories regularly.
