Lucknow. The Uttar Pradesh government has taken an important step towards providing major relief to the teachers working in council primary and upper primary schools. After the order of the Supreme Court, preparations have started to conduct a separate Special Teacher Eligibility Test (Special TET) for about 1.86 lakh in-service teachers affected by making it mandatory to pass TET.
The government has sought a detailed action plan and proposal in this regard from the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission. According to the Basic Education Department, currently serving teachers will be given the opportunity of special TET separately instead of appearing in the examination along with regular candidates. The government believes that this will provide relief to teachers who have been serving for a long time and will end uncertainty over their jobs and promotions.
Concern increased after the Supreme Court order
After the order of the Supreme Court, it became necessary for working teachers to pass TET. Due to this, about 1.86 lakh teachers of the state were facing confusion regarding their jobs and future. Now they are expected to get big relief from this decision of the government.
Proposal sought from selection commission
The government has instructed Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission to prepare a detailed action plan, examination process and proposal for conducting special TET and make it available soon. After receiving the proposal, the date of examination and other guidelines will be decided.

Couple teachers also got relief
Meanwhile, in compliance with the instructions of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court, the Basic Education Department has also given relief to couple of teachers for inter-district transfers. Now eligible teachers will be able to apply online till August 5. Additional Chief Secretary Basic and Secondary Education Partha Sarathi Sen Sharma has instructed the Director General of School Education to issue this information in all the districts. This additional opportunity has been given to teachers who were left out due to confusion in the application process.

Teachers hope for relief from government’s decision
The preparation for conducting special TET and the decision to extend the deadline for transfer application is being considered as a big relief for the teachers of the state. Now all eyes are on the action plan of the Selection Commission and the announcement of the date of special TET by the government.
