Relief to actor Prakash Raj in several voter ID cases, Bengaluru court withdraws non-bailable warrant and grants conditional bail.
New Delhi . Actor Prakash Raj has got a big relief from a magistrate court in Bengaluru in a criminal case related to Voter ID Card. The court withdrew the non-bailable warrant issued against him earlier and granted him conditional bail. After appearing personally before the court, the application filed by the actor was heard and the court ruled to grant him relief with prescribed conditions.
This case pertains to a complaint in which it was alleged that Prakash Raj’s name was registered in various voter lists of different states. The complainant claims that the actor was found to have four different voter ID cards, which was said to be a possible violation of election rules. On this basis, a private complaint was filed in the court, after which the judicial process of the case started.
During the hearing, Prakash Raj’s lawyer told the court that his client had not received official information about the non-bailable warrant. He said that the actor received information in this regard from media reports, after which he himself appeared in the court and followed the legal process. The defense requested the court to withdraw the warrant and grant bail, which the court accepted.
The court granted conditional bail to Prakash Raj and directed him to deposit a cash security amount of Rs 4,000. Besides, he has been asked to be present in all further hearings as per requirement and to cooperate fully in the investigation and judicial process. This order of the court currently pertains only to bail and a final decision on the merits of the case is still pending.
According to the complaint, Prakash Raj’s name has been alleged to be included in the voter list of Shantinagar assembly constituency of Karnataka besides Velachery of Tamil Nadu and Serilingampally assembly constituency of Telangana. The complainant had also said that the police was contacted in this regard in the year 2019, but the expected action was not taken. After this the matter reached the court, where taking cognizance of the complaint in the year 2023, order was given to issue summons.
A non-bailable warrant was issued against Prakash Raj for not appearing on the scheduled date even after the summons was issued by the court. Later, after the actor appeared in the court and explained his position, the court withdrew the warrant and granted him interim relief.
Now the further hearing of this case will continue as per the prescribed procedure. Further legal action will be decided on the basis of evidence, documents and arguments presented by both the parties presented in the court. At present, the actor has got immediate relief from the bail granted, but the final disposal of the case will happen only after the completion of the judicial process.
