Relief to Rahul Gandhi from Supreme Court, stay on proceedings of Ranchi Civil Court, controversial comment on Amit Shah

Ranchi: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has got relief from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court has stayed the proceedings of Ranchi Civil Court in the SLP challenging the defamation case regarding the alleged remarks against the then BJP President and present Union Home Minister. Earlier, Jharkhand High Court had rejected the petition filed by him.

In 2018, during the public meeting held before the Lok Sabha elections in Chaibasa, Rahul Gandhi had commented on the then BJP national president Amit Shah and said that no murderer can become the president in Congress but no murderer can become the president in BJP. Hurt by this controversial comment of Rahul Gandhi, a person named Naveen Jha had filed a complaint in Ranchi Civil Court. Rahul Gandhi had filed a petition to cancel this complaint in Jharkhand, which was rejected by the court. After this Rahul Gandhi had approached the Supreme Court.
