Renault Filante Record 2025 creates history: New record for EV range by traveling 1,008 km on a single charge
EV Range Record: In the world of electric vehicles, Renault has proven that if efficiency is truly a priority, exceptional range can be achieved without the need for a larger battery. French car manufacturer Renault Filante Record 2025 The demo electric car has covered a certified distance of 1,008 kilometers on a single charge. This range achieved at highway speeds is being considered a new benchmark for electric vehicles.
Real test done at highway speed
This record test was conducted on 18 December at UTAC’s test track in Morocco. Usually EV companies claim range in low speed or lab conditions, but Renault chose real road conditions. Filante Record 2025 consistently maintained an average speed of 102 km/hr and covered the distance in approximately 9 hours 52 minutes. This is the reason why this achievement is being considered more credible and special.
Same battery, but shocking efficiency
The most interesting thing about this record is its hardware. The same 87 kWh battery has been used in the Filante Record 2025, which is found in Renault’s production car Scenic E-Tech Electric. Despite this, the energy consumption of this demo car was only 7.8 kWh per 100 km, which is much less than ordinary electric vehicles.
The most surprising thing is that even after running 1,008 km, the battery did not drain completely. According to Renault, at the end of the test the battery had 11% charge left, which is theoretically enough to drive about 120 km more at speeds above 100 km/h.
Focus on weight and aerodynamics
Instead of increasing the battery size, Renault adopted the strategy of saving energy. The weight of Filante Record 2025 is just 1,000 kg. This has been made possible by the extensive use of carbon fiber, lightweight aluminum and 3D printed parts.
Special work was also done on aerodynamics. Through wind tunnel testing, the drag coefficient of the car was reduced from about 0.40 to 0.30. Changes were made such as covering the wheels, providing smaller air intakes and smoothening the body shape to reduce air resistance at high speeds.

Big message for future EVs
Renault says that the Filante Record 2025 is a walking technology lab. This shows that to extend EV range in the real world, it is not just a bigger battery that is needed, but that smart design, lighter weight and better aerodynamics can be more effective. Although there are no plans to bring this car into production, its engineering and learnings will definitely be seen in Renault’s upcoming electric vehicles.
