Renault Kiger Becomes India’s Most Affordable Turbo Petrol SUV

Renault India, in order to boost the sales of its entry-level SUV, the Kiger, has given it a major pricing update. It has introduced a few new variants and has also revised the pricing of the Kiger. It has also announced that the Kiger Turbo has now become India’s most affordable turbo-petrol SUV in the entry B-SUV segment. The Kiger Turbo now starts at Rs 7.89 lakh; meanwhile, the newly launched Evolution+ variant has been launched at Rs 6.99 lakh.

As stated above, the biggest highlight of this update is the pricing of the turbo-petrol variants. The Renault Kiger Turbo manual now starts at Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it the most affordable turbocharged SUV in the entry B-SUV segment.

The turbo-petrol lineup now includes the newly launched Evolution+, Techno, and Emotion variants with manual transmission. Meanwhile, buyers who want an automatic option can choose the Techno and Emotion variants, which come equipped with the X-Tronic CVT gearbox.

The 2026 Kiger still gets the same two petrol engine options. The first is a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces 72 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. This engine gets a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT transmission option. Meanwhile, the second and more exciting option is the 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.

This motor is capable of making 100 bhp, 152 Nm (manual), and 160 Nm (CVT). The Kiger turbo-petrol has one of the best torque-to-weight ratios in the segment. Buyers can choose between a 5-speed manual gearbox and Renault’s X-Tronic CVT automatic transmission.

The CVT transmission also gets D-Step technology, which simulates gear shifts. This helps in reducing the rubber-band effect of the CVT gearboxes. It also comes with multiple drive modes, including Eco and Sport.
