Renault Renault Bridger Launch in India: Mini Duster Set to Rival Mahindra Thar and Maruti Suzuki Jimny, Check Price and Features
Renault Bridger SUV India Launch: French car manufacturer Renault is making a comeback with a highly aggressive strategy to dominate Indian roads. The company is set to world premiere the concept model of its new sub-4-meter lifestyle SUV, the Renault Bridger. This vehicle will directly challenge powerful vehicles like the Maruti Jimny and Mahindra Thar.
Continuing the Duster’s legacy, it is also being called the “Mini Duster.” Scheduled to launch by Diwali 2027, this SUV will not only be affordable but will also offer multiple powertrain options, including petrol, hybrid, and electric. With an estimated starting price of ₹10 lakh, this SUV could prove to be a great gift for off-road enthusiasts.
Renault Bridger
This new SUV from Renault has been internally codenamed RB3-K2 B-SUV. The company plans to significantly strengthen its hold in the subcompact SUV segment with this model. Renault India aims to sell 80,000 to 90,000 units annually with this new vehicle. It is being called a “mini Duster” because it will have the same strength and rugged looks as the Duster, but will be shorter than 4 meters in size. It will be an ideal choice for customers who want a lifestyle SUV experience on a budget.
Design and Platform
In Renault’s lineup, the Bridger will be positioned above the Renault Kiger and below the new Renault Duster. This SUV is being built on the company’s new and modular R-GMP platform, which has been localized specifically for India. Furthermore, it is being designed and developed in India, which will help keep its price under control. Renault’s Chennai plant will not only meet India’s needs, but will also export this SUV to markets worldwide.
Petrol, Hybrid, and Electric

The Renault Bridger’s biggest strength will be its engine options. Reports suggest it will be launched in India with a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol and a 1.2-liter turbocharged petrol engine. Furthermore, an electric version is also in the pipeline, with two different battery options: 35 kWh and 55 kWh. While not much information has been revealed about the hybrid model yet, it’s clear that the company is tailoring it to suit the needs of all customers. The mention of a CNG variant also makes it even more attractive to middle-class families.
Boxy and Modern Design
Recent teasers suggest that the Renault Bridger’s design could be heavily inspired by the Land Rover Defender. It features a straightforward and boxy look, giving it a muscular presence on the roads. The spare wheel mounted on the rear gate gives it a pure off-roader feel. Renault claims that even though it’s a sub-4-meter SUV, there’s no shortage of space inside its cabin. A modern dashboard, large touchscreen, and advanced connectivity features make it a smart SUV.
