Renowned playback singer P Jayachandran dies at the age of 80 in Thrissur
New Delhi: Celebrated playback singer P Jayachandran passed away at the age of 80 on Thursday (January 9) evening while he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thrissur, as per hospital sources. He is known for recording 16,000 songs in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi. According to reports, he was battling cancer.
P Jayachandran was widely recognised for his contribution to Indian music and have won several awards for his work. He was also honoured with the Kerala government’s prestigious JC Daniel Award.

Legendary Malayalam singer P Jayachandran passed away at the age of 80 in Thissur. Reportedly, he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for cancer when he breathed his last. In July last year, the rumours sparked about the iconic singer health being critical but the family dismissed the rumours. They clarified that he is battling some age -related heal issues and is in good health.
During his career, he has collaborated with top composers including MM Keeravani, Ilaiyaraaja, G Devarajan, MS Baburaj, AR Rahman, and others.
