Renuka Singh shines with massive record in 3rd Women ODI between IND and WI
New Delhi: Fast bowler Renuka Singh Thakur joined an elite list of Indian women cricketers when she removed Qiana Joseph on the first ball of the innings in the third WODI between India and West Indies at Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara on Friday, December 27.
Renuka removed both West Indian openers Joseph and Hayley Mathews on a duck in the first over of the innings after skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opted to bowl first. She became the third Indian woman to pick a wicket on the first ball of the innings in an ODI game and joined the elite company of Amita Sharma and Jhulan Goswami.
Amita took the wicket on the first ball during the ODI match against New Zealand in 2003 while Jhulan did the same against South Africa in 2017 and 2019.

Deepti Sharma, Renuka Singh star as West Indies bowled out for 162 runs
West Indies bundled out for 162 runs in 38.5 overs. Renuka provided the Women in Blue a great start and dismissed both the openers in the first over. She also removed Deandra Dottin on 5 runs with a brilliant inswinger. Dottin tried to play the ball across the line but missed the shot and the ball crashed into the stumps.
Shemaine Campbelle and Chinelle Henry stitched a 91-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Deepti removed Campbelle on 46 runs and she picked her second wicket of the match by dismissing Henry on 61 runs. Apart from Alleyne, the lower middle order also failed to make any contribution with the bat.
Deepti Sharma picked up six wickets and Renuka took four wickets. Harmanpreet and Co. leading the three-match series by 2-0. They defeated West Indies by 211 runs in the first ODI and also won the second ODI by 115 runs at the same venue.
