NEW DELHI: The Indian Premier League 2026 season is set to begin on Thursday, March 26 and will conclude on Sunday, May 31. The dates were finalized during a meeting involving all IPL franchises held in Abu Dhabi on Monday evening December 15.
According to a Cricbuzz report, the timeline for IPL Season 19 was officially communicated to franchise representatives during a pre-auction briefing. The announcement was made by IPL CEO Hemang Amin ahead of the mini auction scheduled for Tuesday.

While the dates are locked in, the venue for the opening match is still not confirmed. Traditionally, the IPL opener is hosted by the city of the defending champions, which brings the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru into focus.
The IPL 2026 mini auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, with franchises looking to fine tune their squads ahead of the new season.
