Republic Day 2026: AI will also be on duty on Republic Day! Delhi Police will use smart glasses, this will help identify suspects

Big preparations have begun for the Republic Day to be celebrated on 26th January 2026. Preparations are also in full swing for the cultural programs to be organized in Delhi. Delhi Police is all set to ensure that no untoward incident takes place on this occasion. For the first time in history, Delhi Police will be using AI powered smart glasses to manage the arrangements for Republic Day.

AI powered smart glasses will be used for the first time

According to the officials, these smart glasses are equipped with facial recognition software (FRS) and thermal imaging capabilities. With the help of these smart glasses, police officers will be able to identify suspects in crowded places without stopping people. This device has been developed by an Indian company. The smart glasses, which will be used on January 26, will be directly linked to the police database, which contains records of criminals, declared criminals and other suspects. The process will be like this.

According to the report, these glasses will work in conjunction with the phones given to the police personnel. When these glasses are used to scan a person’s face, the system will match the facial data with the records stored in the database. At this time, if a green indicator appears, it means that the person concerned does not have any criminal record. But if a red indicator appears, it means that the person has a criminal record. This will help the officers to take immediate action if needed.

Help will be provided to control the crowd

Officials said that this technology can scan faces in seconds and will eliminate the need for physical checks and help in crowd control on and around the Republic Day parade route. This technology is capable of identifying a person even if their appearance changes over the years by comparing them with live images. Apart from facial recognition, the smart glasses also include thermal imaging features, which can help in detecting hidden metal objects or potential weapons. This technology will work as an extra layer of security. This will be of great help in crowded places. Officials said that sub-inspectors and other field officers will use the smart glasses during the ceremony.
