Revealed: 'The unbelievable amount Neymar was paid in 2024' for just 42 MINUTES of action at Al-Hilal after injury-stricken year for Brazilian icon

It’s fair to say that Neymar has endured a torturous 2024 on the pitch, but according to reports, he still received a staggering wage package from his club Al-Hilal.

Recovering from a serious knee injury, Brazil’s record goal scorer Neymar struggled for fitness, playing only two matches for the Saudi Pro League side before the end of the year.

In total, those two appearances yielded just 42 minutes of action for a player that Al-Hilal invested heavily in to bring to the division in the summer of 2023.

Despite being at the club for 18 months now, he has still almost unbelievably only taken to the field on seven occasions, but that has not stopped him from banking his eye-watering wage package.

According to data from French outlet Foot Mercato, Neymar is believed to have been paid a whopping £84.6million (€101m) for his troubles in the whole of 2024.

As a result of his injury-enforced inactivity last term, Neymar has seen his transfer value take a sizeable hit.

By the end of 2024, his market value sat at around £12.6m according to Transfermarkt – a far cry from the £200m fee PSG paid for the forward back in 2017.

He had finished 2023 with a value of around £37m, meaning he is the sixth-highest player for transfer value decrease across 2024, as per Transfermarkt data.

Given his inactivity, reports had emerged back in November that Al-Hilal were considering tearing up the player’s contract and cutting the losses.

The report claimed the club have increasing doubts over the role Neymar could play in the final six months of the season, with his £130million-per-year deal due to expire at the end of the campaign.

Neymar is currently one of eight foreign players over the age of 21 in the Al-Hilal squad, putting the club at their limit of overseas imports under Saudi Pro League rules.

The remaining seven players have become key parts of the squad in Neymar’s absence, leaving the Brazilian’s future in doubt.

A termination of his contract would offer Neymar the opportunity to return to Brazil, where he has been linked with rejoining Santos, where he made his breakthrough.

The star has also been tipped to reunite with his former team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at MLS side Inter Miami, with the trio having formed a legendary attacking force during their time at Barcelona.
