RG Kar Rape Murder Case: Convict Sanjay Roy sentenced to life imprisonment, fined Rs 50 thousand
Kolkata. Sanjay Roy, the main accused in Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College doctor rape-murder case, was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday. Along with this, a fine of Rs 50 thousand has been imposed. Let us tell you that 164 days after this heinous incident that took place on August 9, 2024, the Sealdah Court has announced the punishment. Earlier, while holding Sanjay Roy guilty, Additional District and Sessions Judge Anirban Das had said that he is guilty in this case. He must be punished for his actions.

Sanjay Roy, who brutally assaulted a female doctor, has been found guilty under sections 64, 66 and 103 (1) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS). Under these sections, there is a provision to give the maximum punishment to the culprit – death or life imprisonment. Before pronouncing the sentence, the judge told Sanjay Roy that I had already told you that all the charges against you like rape and murder have been proved. On this Sanjay Roy said that I have been implicated without any reason. I always wear Rudraksha rosary. If I had committed a crime, the garland would have been broken at the crime scene itself. I was not allowed to speak. Many papers were forcibly signed.
