Richa Chadha: Richa Chadha had to face heavy punishment for sharing this post on social media, Delhi High Court reprimanded

Richa Chadha Delhi High Court:The case related to allegations of alleged tampering in a flight going from Delhi to Mumbai has now taken a legal turn. In this case, Delhi High Court has taken a strict stance and reprimanded actress Richa Chadha for sharing information on social media without verification.

What is the whole matter?

This case is related to the flight journey of March 11, where a female journalist accused a passenger sitting near her of misbehavior. After the flight landed, the journalist shared the person’s photo, name and profession on social media, which quickly went viral.

Sharing the post without checking was costly

Actress Richa Chadha also reshared this post and wrote about spreading it further. Expressing displeasure on this, the court said that promoting such allegations without verifying the facts is wrong and it can harm someone’s image.

Court’s harsh comment

The court said that describing a person as a ‘molester’ in a social media post prima facie amounts to defamation. Justice Vikas Mahajan called it “digital vigilantism”, where people blame someone without investigation.

The accused denied the allegations

The person against whom the allegations were made denied all the allegations. He says he remained seated in his seat throughout the journey and fell asleep before landing. He has filed a defamation case in the court saying that his reputation has been damaged.

The court also said that making someone’s identity and photo public before the investigation is complete is a violation of his rights. The court considered this a serious mistake.

Questions raised even after removing the post

The court noted that Richa Chadha later removed her post, but also said that public figures should behave more responsibly on social media. After this whole matter, once again the question has arisen as to how dangerous it can be to share information on social media without verification.
