Rickshaw driver rewarded for saving injured Saif Ali Khan
Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was injured in a knife attack during an attempted robbery at his Bandra residence on January 16, around 3 a.m. The actor resisted the intruder and managed to foil the robbery but sustained six injuries, two of which were deep, while one was dangerously close to his spinal cord.
After the attack, Saif was taken to Lilavati Hospital in a rickshaw, rather than using his car. He had been accompanied by his little son, Taimur Ali Khan, and another man.
Rickshaw driver Bhajan Singh Rana said, while recounting the episode in an Indian media interview: “I was passing near my home when a woman stopped my rickshaw and directed me to an apartment.” A man dressed in white kurta-pajama, whose clothes were soaked in blood, was brought into the rickshaw along with a child and another person. They asked me to take them to Lilavati Hospital. At that time, I didn’t realize the injured man was Saif Ali Khan.
Saif, on reaching the hospital, identified himself to the guards, who took him immediately for treatment. The doctors performed surgery and removed a 2.5-inch piece of the knife from near his spine. Five days later, the actor was discharged and is now recovering.
The speedy action earned the reward of INR 11,000 from a Mumbai-based social worker Faheem Ansari for Bhajan Singh Rana. Rana, with his voice full of joy said, “I feel proud and honored. Never in my dreams did I expect such a situation to come knocking on my doors. I’m elated to know that I saved Saif Ali Khan.” Such heroic act draws appreciation in bringing forth quick thought and kindness to save one when in distress.
Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan returned home on Tuesday afternoon after being discharged from Lilavati Hospital, exuding charm and gratitude.
Fans and paparazzi gathered outside his Bandra residence to catch a glimpse of the actor, who greeted them warmly.
Numerous photos and videos of his arrival have since made their way to social media.
Saif was seen making his way to the entrance, accompanied by security personnel.
