Rihanna is ‘freaked out’ after gunfire incident outside her home
Rihanna is still recovering from the gunfire that hit outside her ravish Beverly Hills home on Sunday, March 8.
The incident occurred when Rihanna was reportedly at home when a suspect, identified by police as Ivanna Ortiz, allegedly fired multiple rounds at the property from outside using an AR-15-style rifle.
Authorities said Ortiz fled the scene but was later apprehended and taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder.
Following the incident, a source told PEOPLE that the Fenty Beauty founder was terrified by the incident, but she is grateful that “everyone is safe.”
“Even with a great security team in place, it’s scary to realize that something like this can still happen,” the source added. “Rihanna heard the shots, but was initially confused about what happened. She doesn’t understand why someone would target her family.”
A second source said the singer “is freaking the f out” by the incident, which occurred at the home. She lives at her home with partner A$AP Rocky and their children, sons RZA Athelston Mayers, 3½, and Riot Rose Mayers, 2½, along with their six-month-old daughter Rocki Mayers.
Officers were called to the property at around 1:15 p.m. local time following reports of gunfire, a representative for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to PEOPLE.
Authorities said the suspect fled the area but was later apprehended after police located her vehicle at the Sherman Oaks Galleria, according to CBS News.
An LAPD spokesperson added that the firearm was recovered and the case remains under active investigation by the department’s Robbery-Homicide Division.
