Rihanna’s Mumbai visit sparks debate after she fed a cow while holding a Dior bag, made with calfskin

A viral clip showing Rihanna feeding a cow on her recent trip to Mumbai has caused an avalanche of heated discussion. The singer, who was present at a private event in Antilia, was first celebrated for her act. She was considered to have made a humble attempt at respecting the local culture. But the discussion took a new turn when users spotted the expensive bag Rihanna had carried along.

Rihanna’s calfskin Dior bag divides the internet

The Dior ‘Crunchy’ bag that Rihanna was said to be using was priced at an estimated ₹4.3 lakh. Reports indicate that the  bag is made of calfskin with lambskin and calfskin lining, which led to criticism from the internet community.

Some people saw this move as hypocritical, wondering how one could feed a cow while also having something on their person that was made out of cow leather. The social media response was quick and sharp. One person commented, “Hope the cow does not recognise its hide.” Another person commented, “Feed the cow, wear the cow.”

However, not all users were of the same opinion. Some of the users stood up for Rihanna, saying that the reaction to her wearing leather was unreasonable. It was emphasized that leather goods are common in different parts of the world and are even utilized by animal lovers.

One person commented, “Why are you complaining? There are plenty of dogla Indians too who use such products and still claim to love animals.” Another person commented, “The cow was dead bro. She didn’t kill it and use its hide.”

It is pertinent to state that the entire fracas took place in the wake of her visit to Mumbai which gained wide coverage. Rihanna visited Antilia to participate in a puja ceremony there, while also participating in the festival called Phoolon’s Holi. She was spotted practicing Bharatnatyam mudras as well.
