T20 WC 2026: A mountain of sorrow fell on Rinku Singh! Know why he suddenly returned home before the match with Zimbabwe
T20 World Cup 2026: t20 world cup 2026 Team India’s troubles are showing no signs of abating. While Team India is in danger of being out of the race for the semi-finals after losing to South Africa in the Super-8, now explosive batsman Rinku Singh has had to leave Team India and return home before the important match with Zimbabwe.
According to the information, Rinku Singh has suddenly left the team camp and returned to his home due to a family emergency. Rinku did not even participate in the practice session of Team India yesterday. Now the big question is whether Rinku will be able to join the team before the second match to be held in Super-8?
Why did you have to return home?
According to PTI, a source in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, “Due to a family emergency, Rinku Singh has returned home from Chennai. He did not participate in India’s practice session in Chepauk. Rinku’s father Khanchand Singh has reportedly been admitted to a hospital in Greater Noida in a critical condition, and hence the player had to return immediately.”
Will the comeback happen before the match?
After Rinku Singh’s sudden separation from the team, doubt has deepened over his availability in the ‘do or die’ match against Zimbabwe on Thursday. In the second match of the Super 8 stage, India will face Zimbabwe in Chennai itself. This match is very important for the Indian team led by Suryakumar Yadav. If the West Indies team beats South Africa on Thursday evening and India loses to Zimbabwe, then its hopes of defending the title in the tournament may get a big blow.
How was your performance in the last match?
In the first Super 8 match played against South Africa in Ahmedabad on 22 February, India had got the target of 188 runs. In this match, Rinku Singh came to bat at number 8. However, South African spinner Keshav Maharaj sent him to the pavilion without opening the account in 2 balls.
