Rinku Singh to rejoin Team India ahead of West Indies match
Indian batter Rinku Singh will join Team India on February 28 ahead of the West Indies match on Sunday. The ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Rinku performed the last rites of his father, Khanchand Singh, in Aligarh on February 27. Khanchand was diagnosed with liver cancer and breathed his last at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida.
The southpaw had left the team a few days ago due to his father’s health. He joined the team ahead of the match against Zimbabwe but was not included in the Playing XI.
On Friday, he landed in Delhi before travelling to Aligarh by road to be with his family. The last rites of his father were performed at a crematorium near Ramghat Road. Rinku and his brothers performed the last rites.
“He first flew to Delhi and then to Aligarh via road to attend the last rites of his father,” a source told PTI.
“A lot of people were present and Rinku along with his four brothers performed the last rites,” the source added.
