Rishabh Pant becomes the most expensive player in IPL history after Lucknow Super Giants buy him for INR 27 crore

Lucknow Super Giants bought Rishabh Pant for INR 27 crore, and the southpaw became the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League. The left-handed batter broke Shreyas Iyer’s record of INR 26.75 crore, who was added to the team by Punjab Kings in the ongoing auction.

He was released by Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction despite him leading them in the previous season. He had been with them since making his IPL debut in 2016, but the management decided to release him due to some issues.

The southpaw is one of the best wicket-keepers in the world and is renowned for his hitting in the middle order. He is also a good captain and is likely to lead the franchise in the 18th season.

In 111 IPL matches, he has scored 3284 runs at an average of 35.31, with the help of 1 hundred and 18 fifties.
