Rishabh Pant’s advice to Washington Sundar fails against Ajaz Patel in viral video

Spinner Washington Sundar was the star of the show for India the first day of the second Test against the New Zealand. The all-rounder who was brought in to replace Kuldeep Yadav, exceeded the expectations laid upon him by picking up his career-best figures of 7/59 to massively help India in bundling out New Zealand for 259 in the third session.

The match also saw a fun moment between wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and Sundar. In a video which is now making rounds on social media, Pant can be seen advising Sundar to bowl a little fuller to batter Ajaz Patel.

“Washi (Washington Sundar) can be added next, you can bowl little fuller. “Thoda bahar daal sakte hai,” Pant can be heard saying to Sundar.

However, when Sundar did try to bowl the way Pant asked him to, he ended up conceding a boundary to Patel. After Sundar was hit for the boundary, Pant tried to defend himself saying that, “Yaar mereko kya pata issey Hindi aati hai? (How would I know that his guy knows Hindi?).”

With this statement, Pant was pointing out that he didn’t know that Patel, who is of Indian origin, knows the Hindi language.

Sundar would break several records with his brilliant 7-wicket haul which saw the New Zealand batting order absolutely crumble in front of them.
