Riteish Deshmukh slams journalist for asking if Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt should be in Lock Upp for their past legal trouble
Months before Salman Khan’s Bigg Boss, another reality show on similar lines, Lock Upp, will be streaming on Netflix. India. Riteish Deshmukh is hosting Netflix’s Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa alongside Farah Khan. The grand launch saw the contestants being revealed on the show. It also showed Ekta Kapoor and Ram Kapoor together after their alleged war of words over Ram Kapoor’s weight loss and his sly dig.
Ram Kapoor hugged Ekta Kapoor, as Ram is one of the contestants on the show and Ekta is the producer of the reality series.
However, during the media question-and-answer round, Riteish Deshmukh got angry at a journalist.
Riteish Deshmukh Schools Journalist Over Salman Khan, Sanjay Dutt ‘Lock Upp’ Question
A media personnel asked, “Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt are your closest friends. Both have a lot of experience of lock-up. So, would you like to get them in Netflix’s Lock Upp? And how would you punish them?”
Riteish replied, “First of all, I don’t think I’d like to dignify your question by answering it.”
The actor further clarified that his role on Lock Upp is limited to hosting the show and interacting with contestants. He explained that it is not his responsibility to decide who participates in the reality series.
When the journalist asked again whether he would like to bring Salman and Sanjay onto Lock Upp, Deshmukh stood firm in his response.
He said, “I won’t bring them because my duty is to host the show. As a host, I don’t know who the inmates will be. Whoever comes to Lock Upp as a guest, we interact with them..”
Taking his stance, Riteish Deshmukh decided not to dwell deeper.
The question stemmed from the actors’ past legal cases. Salman Khan was sentenced to five years in prison in the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, while Sanjay Dutt served a jail term after being convicted under the Arms Act in connection with illegal weapons linked to the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
