The 40th match of IPL 2026 was played between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals at Mullanpur Stadium. The video of Riyan Parag vaping spread like wildfire as soon as it came on social media and users on social media are talking about punishing Riyan.

‘VAPE’ is banned in India

Vaping in IPL is really a big crime, for which Riyan Parag is almost certain to be punished. Actually, e-cigarette is completely illegal in India. Under the Government of India Act of 2019 (PECA), there is a strict ban on e-cigarettes and vaping. Since using them is a legal offence, doing so inside the stadium can be considered a serious matter.

What is the rule of BCCI

Now the question arises that what punishment can Riyan Parag get for vaping in the dressing room? There is no direct mention of the word ‘vaping’ in the IPL Code of Conduct, but the use of a banned substance is considered a breach of these rules under Section 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which tarnishes the image of the game.

For this offence, the match referee can reprimand the player, deduct his match fee or even ban him. Not only this, according to the safety rules of the stadium, all the venues of IPL are ‘no-smoking’ zones.

Players and officials are checked at the gate before entering the field and are not allowed to take lighters, matches or any electronic smoking device inside. In such a situation, bringing vape into the stadium and using it in the dressing room is also a legal offense. Now it remains to be seen when and what action will be taken against Riyan Parag.
