Rizwan refused to play Pakistani league, chose to play club cricket Gujarati
After Babar Azam and Naseem Shah, now Pakistan’s ODI captain Mohammad Rizwan has also decided not to play the ongoing National T20 Championship in Faisalabad. However, Rizwan was seen playing a club cricket match in Peshawar, whose pictures have gone viral on social media. Photos of Rizwan playing club cricket match had surfaced on social media, Rizwan has decided to play club cricket instead of participating in the National T20 Cup which will run till 27 March. Rizwan’s decision has come after Pakistan’s disappointing performance in the recently completed ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. Where the defending champions could not win a single match and remained at the bottom in Group A with only one point. After the tournament, Rizwan traveled for Umrah and after returning to his home country, he chose to play club cricket instead of participating in the 18-team National T20 Cup.
According to the report, Rizwan, who recently returned from Mecca after performing Umrah, wants to take rest before going to New Zealand for the three-match ODI series. Rizwan, Babar and Naseem have not got a place in the team for the five-match T20 series in New Zealand. It is being said that Babar is also currently in Mecca for Umrah.
Rizwan and Babar Azam were ignored for the ongoing five-match T20 series against New Zealand. The series had a bad start for Pakistan as they suffered a humiliating defeat by nine wickets in the first match. PCB has appointed Salman Ali Aga as the captain in this tournament. But his debut as captain was also disappointing.
Batting first, Pakistan’s top order collapsed and the team could score only 91 runs. Their bid collapsed after losing three wickets in one run. After that, New Zealand, chasing the normal target, won by nine wickets with 59 balls remaining, while Pakistan, batting first, had to face its worst defeat in this format.
