RJD MP issues legal notice to Ram Janmabhoomi Trust, seeks complete details of donations and expenses

RJD MP Sudhakar Singh has sent a legal notice to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust seeking detailed records of donations and expenditure. Actually this notice has been sent through Supreme Court lawyer Satyam Singh Rajput. In the notice, the trust has been demanded to provide the necessary documents within three days. The MP says that this step has been taken completely in public interest and has no political purpose.

In fact, in the notice, information has been sought about the donations received by the Trust from the financial year 2021-22 to 2025-26, the use of that amount and financial records. Along with this, it has also been asked to provide audited balance sheet, complete details of income and expenditure, auditor’s report and records of lands purchased by the trust. The notice also said that transparency and accountability are extremely important in matters related to public donations as it involves the faith and contribution of crores of devotees.

What information was demanded from Ram Janmabhoomi Trust?

In the legal notice, not only the account of donations and expenses, but also information related to the trust’s bank accounts and foreign contribution (FCRA) has been sought. Apart from this, there has been a demand to share complete details of the lands purchased by the Trust at different times. The notice states that if a religious trust receives a large amount of public donations, then it is necessary to make information about its financial transactions available in a transparent manner.

Sudhakar Singh said that his aim is not to tarnish the image of any institution, but to bring clarity regarding the use of public funds. The Indian Trust Act, Income Tax Act, Uttar Pradesh Public Trusts Act and Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) are also mentioned in the notice. Along with this, citing a decision of Madras High Court, it has been said that religious institutions should also maintain transparency in matters related to donations. The notice also mentions the possibility of approaching the court if the response is not received within the stipulated time.

Meanwhile, the SIT formed to investigate the case of alleged donation theft in Ram temple is also continuing its investigation. The investigation team is continuously investigating different aspects by being present in the Ram Janmabhoomi complex. According to the information, a team of IT experts is examining digital records, CCTV footage and other technical evidence to ascertain the facts related to the case.
