A tragic road accident in Chhindwara district on Thursday evening shocked the entire area. After a massive collision between a speeding bus and a pickup vehicle near Simaria on Nagpur Road, the bus overturned, in which 10 people including the drivers of both the vehicles died on the spot. More than 30 people were injured in the accident, the condition of many of them is said to be critical.
The bus was returning from a public event
According to the police, there were more than 40 passengers in the bus and all were returning from a public function, in which information about the participation of the Chief Minister of the state has come to light. The accident was so horrific that after the collision, the bus went out of control and overturned on the road and the people traveling in it got badly trapped.
Heartbreaking scenes
The scene after the accident was very painful. Many passengers suffered serious injuries, while a woman and a child had their hands severed. Some of the injured have suffered deep head injuries. The people present on the spot immediately started relief work and helped in taking out the injured.
Relief and rescue operations intensified
As soon as information about the incident was received, the police and administration team reached the spot. The injured were admitted to the district hospital and nearby health centers with the help of ambulances and private vehicles. The administration immediately activated medical facilities, so that treatment of the injured could begin without delay.

Government’s quick response
Mohan Yadav has expressed deep sorrow over this accident. He has instructed the officials that there should be no shortage in the treatment of the injured. Besides, instructions have also been given to send a special team of doctors from Jabalpur to Chhindwara and Nagpur.
The Chief Minister has announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to the seriously injured. Apart from this, an assurance has also been given to provide free treatment to all the injured.
Inquiry ordered, suspicion of negligence
The administration has started investigation into this accident. In the initial investigation, high speed and negligence are being considered as the reasons for the accident, however, the real reason will be revealed only after detailed investigation.
Questions raised again on road safety
This accident has once again raised questions on road safety and adherence to traffic rules. Such accidents happening continuously indicate how ignoring the rules and speeding can prove fatal.
This accident has not only brought irreparable loss to many families, but is also a serious warning to the administration and the common people that caution on the road is the biggest safety measure.
