Roadster X Plus 9.1 kWh Trim Cheaper By A Whopping 60,000 Rupees

Ola Electric has cut the price of the Roadster X Plus in its 9.1 kWh battery variant by Rs 60,000, bringing it down from Rs 1,89,999 to Rs 1,29,999. The reduction, disclosed through a BSE regulatory filing, is the sharpest single price move Ola has made on any of its motorcycles since the Roadster line-up launched.

The company has attributed the cut to production scale-up at its Krishnagiri factory in Tamil Nadu, where it manufactures the 4680 Bharat Cell used in the Roadster X Plus. The Krishnagiri facility started Phase 1 with an initial production capacity of 1 GWh annually and is designed to scale to 20 GWh. As cell production volumes increase, per-unit costs come down, and this price revision is a direct pass-through of that cost reduction. The 4680 Bharat Cell is described as India’s first indigenously developed lithium-ion cell in this format, and mass deliveries of 4680-powered vehicles only began in December 2025, meaning the cost curve is still early in its descent.

The Roadster X Plus 9.1 kWh claims a certified range of 501 km, a top speed of 125 kmph, and a peak power output of 11 kW. The kerb weight on the 9.1 kWh variant is 148.3 kg, which is around 17 kg heavier than the 4.5 kWh version of the same motorcycle. It comes with a front disc brake and single-channel ABS, a 4.3-inch colour LCD display, cruise control, reverse mode, and connected features including navigation and OTA updates. The battery warranty is 3 years or 50,000 km.

At Rs 1,29,999, it sits Rs 50,000 above the base Roadster X with the 2.5 kWh pack, which starts at Rs 79,999. The gap in range between those two variants is substantial: 501 km versus around 140 km. The 9.1 kWh variant also gets a more powerful 11 kW mid-drive motor versus the 7 kW unit on the base Roadster X, which translates to a higher top speed of 125 kmph compared to 105 kmph on the entry variant. For buyers who plan to use the motorcycle for daily commutes beyond 60-70 km or for occasional intercity runs, the 9.1 kWh variant now looks considerably more viable on value grounds than it did at Rs 1,89,999.

Ola Electric’s market position took a serious hit over the past 12 months. The brand held a 24 percent share of the electric two-wheeler market in early 2025. By February 2026, it had recorded just 3,968 units and slipped to sixth place in monthly registrations. In the same month, Greaves Electric outsold Ola for the first time.

The recovery in March was swift: registrations came in at 10,117 units, up 154.64 percent month-on-month from 3,973 in February, as per VAHAN data. Daily orders crossed 1,000 units in the last week of March, and cumulative registrations across all Ola Electric products crossed the 1 million mark, making it the first electric vehicle brand in the country to reach that figure.

In early March 2026, the base Roadster X was brought down to Rs 79,999, a move that made it cheaper than several 150cc petrol motorcycles. The S1 X electric scooter also saw cuts around the same period, with the Gen 3 S1 X starting at Rs 49,999 after revisions.

The cumulative effect of these revisions is a significantly repositioned line-up compared to where Ola was six months ago. Purchase windows for the newly priced Roadster X Plus 9.1 kWh open from April 3, with deliveries expected to follow within weeks given that production capacity for the variant is already in place.
