Rohit and company made these records in Chepauk Test

India started the two-match Test series against Bangladesh with a win. India defeated the visiting team by 280 runs at Chepauk. There were many moments in the match when sportsmanship was seen along with sharp banter. Overall, the match was exciting, where Team India made many records. With this win, Team India's number one position in the World Test Championship points table has become stronger.

While chasing the huge target of 515 runs, all the Bangladeshi batsmen except captain Nazmul Hasan Shanto surrendered before the Indian bowlers. The visiting team, who came out to bowl first with the intention of taking advantage of the toss factor, started well but could not sustain it for long.


Especially off-spinner R. Ashwin, who was the man of the match on his home ground, showed his dominance the most against Bangladesh. He took 6 wickets. He also scored 113 runs in the first innings. This is the record fourth time when Ashwin has achieved the feat of scoring a century and taking five wickets in the same Test match.

This Chepauk Test match proved to be historic in many ways. Many small and big team and individual records were seen being made. Many of these records and statistics are registered in the name of Ashwin.

Ashwin (4 centuries) has reached the second position in terms of scoring the most centuries against players batting at number 8 or below in Tests. He is preceded by Daniel Vettori (5 centuries) in this list.

Ashwin is the first player in the world to take a 5 wicket haul and score a century at the age of 38. He has become the second bowler to take the most (5 wicket haul). Only Muralitharan is ahead of him. With 522 wickets in Test cricket, Ashwin is at the eighth position in the list of bowlers taking the most wickets.

The victory by 280 runs is the biggest victory of Team India against Bangladesh in terms of runs. Let us tell you, in Test cricket, the Indian team has not lost any bilateral series at home since 2012.
