The second phase of Ranji Trophy saw the performance of big stars of Indian cricket, but the performance disappointed everyone. Famous players like Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer could not live up to the expectations on the field. His first innings was a big disappointment in domestic cricket.
Disappointing performance of Rohit, Yashasvi, and Gill
Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, playing for Mumbai, and Shubman Gill, playing for Punjab, all three failed to play big innings. The opening pair of Rohit and Yashasvi together made a partnership of only 6 runs. Rohit scored only 3 runs in 19 balls, while Yashasvi was out after scoring 4 runs in 8 balls.
Shubman Gill, who is the captain of Punjab, could score only 4 runs in 8 balls against Karnataka. The team was expected to give a strong start, but he soon returned to the pavilion.
Rishabh Pant's flop show
The performance of Rishabh Pant, who came to play for Delhi, was even worse. Against Saurashtra, Pant faced 10 balls and could score only 1 run. A big innings was expected from the wicketkeeper-batsman, but he failed completely.
Shreyas Iyer showed some strength by scoring 11 runs
Another big name of Team India, Shreyas Iyer, who is playing for Mumbai, gave some hope. He crossed double figures by scoring 11 runs, but he too could not play a big innings.
