Famous Indian fashion designer Rohit Bal passed away at the age of 63. The designer took his last breath on Friday, November 1, 2024. According to media reports, Rohit Bal was suffering from heart-related disease. The news of his demise was confirmed by the official Instagram handle of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).

Taking to Instagram, the official page of FDCI said that Rohit Bal’s legacy will live on in the fashion world. Sharing a picture of the designer, the page dropped a long heartwarming note which read, “We mourn the passing of Legendary designer Rohit Bal. He was a founding member of the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI). Known for his unique blend of traditional patterns with modern sensibilities, Bal’s work redefined Indian fashion and inspired generations. His legacy of artistry, and innovation along with forward thinking will live on in the fashion world. Rest in peace GUDDA. You are a legend.”

Only two weeks ago, Rohit took his final collection at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai. For the unversed, Bal was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Gurugram for dealing with cardiac issues.

As soon as the news of the designer’s demise went, several renowned people took to their X account (formerly known as Twitter) and expressed grief. Industrialist Gautam Singhania took to X and wrote, “Heartbroken to say goodbye to an incredible friend. You brought so much light, laughter, and kindness into the lives of everyone around you. I’m grateful for every moment we shared, every laugh, every conversation. You’ll be missed beyond words, but your spirit will live on in all of us. Rest peacefully, my friend.”

Affectionately called “Gudda” by his inner circle, Rohit Bal has established a unique place in the fashion world with his signature couture, often dressing some of Bollywood’s biggest names. Originating from Kashmir, Bal is renowned for his daring and expressive designs, securing his status as one of the most esteemed figures in the fashion industry.
