Rohit comes to defend Ashwin and Jadeja from criticism after loss to NZ

After India’s defeat in the 2nd Test against New Zealand on Saturday at Maharashtra Cricket Association stadium in Pune, skipper Rohit Sharma came in defence of spinners R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja.

Both the matches have been non-memorable for Ashwin and Jadeja, especially since they came out to be among the failures in the series. Both Jadeja and Ashwin have taken 6 wickets in the first 2 games, averaging at 37.50 and 43.50.

After India lost the series, Rohit Sharma defended Ashwin and Jadeja as he stated that the criticism they are facing is not fair and that they carry huge expectations in each match.

I don’t think that’s fair, it’s the responsibility of all of us to make sure that we get the Test match wins. Not just the two guys, they have played a major role in helping us win 18 consecutive series at home. So couple of series, I’m not going to look too much into it especially with those two guys. They know exactly what happens and sometimes they’re allowed to have some bad games here and there. We got to be ready with other guys also to step in,” Rohit said in the post-match press conference.
