Meanwhile, on Yashasvi Jaiswal's failure in the last two matches, the captain said, “He (Jaiswal) is coming here for the first time, and he has already shown what he is capable of, you know, he has a lot of talent.” The talent is there, and when you have someone like that in your squad, you don't want to mess with his mentality too much.” “I think he has the ability to play every type of game, whether it's a holding game, whether it's trying to dominate the game,” he added.
The captain expressed confidence in the Indian bowling attack, especially fast bowler Mohammed Siraj, to deliver solid performances in the remaining matches of the series. He said that he has shown a great attitude and that is what matters. Rohit said, “When you are captaining the team, it is not the easiest job in the world. You come here with the intention of getting the best out of everyone. “No one comes here not to perform well or not to perform well.”
He also said, “When a player is in form, we say that he should take full advantage of that form. Bumrah is certainly taking full advantage of it. Siraj and the other players bowling with him clearly know that they have to come forward and try to get the job done.”
Regarding Rishabh Pant's performance, captain Rohit said, “No, there is no pressure. He has played only two or three Test matches here. He has been in good form recently. He has scored good runs in India. His record in Australia is good.” He said it is not right to evaluate anyone after two-three matches and players like Pant, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal should not be given too much “overcomplicated” feedback because they know what to do.
