The crowd welcomed Rohit Sharma with slogans of 'Mumbai Cha Raja' during the second Test of India vs New Zealand in Pune.

India captain Rohit Sharma has a huge fan following across the world, one such incident happened on Thursday, October 24, on the first day of the second Test against New Zealand at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

New Zealand won the toss and decided to bat first, after which the Indian players took the field and the atmosphere was filled with excitement as the fans kept chanting “Mumbai Cha Raja, Rohit Sharma”.


Rohit's performance in the first Test match against New Zealand was average, as he could score only 2 and 52 runs in his two innings. The Indian team also had to face defeat by eight wickets in the first test match against New Zealand.

“He also batted well. When you play a Test match like this, the first session does not go in our favour. But we batted well in the second innings. We take a lot of positives from this and see how we can change the situation here. When you are behind you always want to find ways to come back in a Test match. That's what we did. The pitch is a bit dry, yes. We understand how important the first 10 overs are. Three changes – Siraj, KL and Kuldeep are out. Akash Deep, Washington and Gill come in”, Rohit Sharma said at the time of the toss.

Players like Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Akash Deep have replaced KL Rahul, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohammed Siraj in India's playing eleven for the second Test against New Zealand.
