Shreyas Iyer catch: In the match played between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings in IPL 2026, a moment came which changed the course of the entire match. This was the moment of Shreyas Iyer’s brilliant catch, but what was even more talked about was Rohit Sharma’s reaction, which was going viral on social media.

The incident occurred on the third ball of the 18th over, when Marco Yansen was bowling. At that time Hardik Pandya was looking very dangerous. He hit a powerful six at the beginning of the over and it seemed that the next ball would also cross the boundary. But Shreyas Iyer, standing at long-on, did something which everyone was stunned to see. Iyer ran fast, jumped in the air and caught the ball while reverse-cupping it. Although he was going beyond the boundary due to loss of balance, he showed great wisdom and threw the ball in the air.

Then Xavier Bartlett, standing nearby, caught the ball and thus Hardik Pandya’s innings came to an end. Along with the players present on the field, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav sitting in the dugout were also surprised to see this scene. Especially Rohit’s reaction was captured on camera, which has now gone viral.

An investigation was also conducted by the third umpire regarding this catch. Replays clearly showed that Iyer had released the ball before crossing the boundary line, hence the catch was declared valid. Although Bartlett got the credit for the catch in the scorecard, in reality it was entirely the result of Iyer’s hard work.

After the match, Shreyas Iyer also admitted that this catch proved to be the turning point of the match. He said that the team’s performance so far has been excellent and the team is playing unitedly in every match.
