Rohit Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal selected in Mumbai team for the next match of Ranji Trophy.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma and rising young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal have been included in Mumbai's squad for the Ranji Trophy match against Jammu and Kashmir to be held at the MCA-BKC ground here from January 23. Rohit will play in Ranji Trophy match after almost a decade. Announcing the team on Monday, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) said that experienced player Ajinkya Rahane will continue to lead the team.

Rohit confirmed

Rohit had confirmed his participation in the next round of Ranji Trophy matches on Saturday in the press conference held at the announcement of the limited overs series against England and the Champions Trophy to be held next month. When he was asked whether he would play in his state team's next home match, he replied, “I will play.”

Poor performance in the series against Australia

After poor performance at home against New Zealand and in the series against Australia, questions have been raised for some time about Rohit's form in the longer format of the game. The Indian captain had arrived for practice in the training session organized for Mumbai on January 15, which made it clear that he would be playing.

The Indian Cricket Board recently made it mandatory for all contracted players to participate in domestic cricket, with exemptions only on fitness related issues. After this, Jaiswal also joined the Mumbai camp and took part in some training sessions with his home team at the BKC ground. Rohit had recently cited the busy schedule of the national team as the reason for not playing domestic cricket.

Mumbai's team is as follows:

Ajinkya Rahane (captain), Rohit Sharma, Yashswi Jaiswal, Ayush Mhatre, Shreyas Iyer, Siddhesh Lad, Shivam Dubey, Hardik Tamore (wicketkeeper), Akash Anand (wicketkeeper), Tanush Kotian, Shams Mulani, Himanshu Singh, Shardul Thakur, Mohit Awasthi , Sylvester D'Souza, Royston Diaz, Karsh Closet
