Roma still keen on Chelsea’s Garnacho despite Summerville progress
According to Alfredo Pedulla while the pursuit of Summerville is “red hot,” dialogue over the Chelsea forward continues in parallel, and for good reason. Gian Piero Gasperini wants at least two new wide men for his attack, meaning Summerville’s progress does not close the door on Garnacho.
A double swoop is not guaranteed, Pedulla cautions, but the two deals are not mutually exclusive, and talks over the Argentine remain ongoing.
Roma cool Molina links as Garnacho talks continue
Pedulla was less encouraging on other names doing the rounds. He moved to shut down suggestions of Roma interest in Nahuel Molina, the Atletico Madrid right-back, whose focus is entirely on Sunday’s World Cup final, dismissing the link, along with the earlier Dodo speculation, as names thrown around without foundation.
The clarification fits the wider shape of Roma’s window.
Having lodged a €46 million bid for Summerville and secured the player’s agreement, while also sounding out cheaper alternatives such as Ajax’s Mika Godts, the Giallorossi are casting a deliberately wide net as they chase the marquee reinforcements Gasperini has demanded for a squad returning to the Champions League.
Garnacho, out of favour at Stamford Bridge and open to a move, remains firmly among the names in the frame.
