Romano Reveals the Latest on Ramos’ Potential Return to Real Madrid

Fabrizio Romano reveals that Sergio Ramos would be open to rejoining Real Madrid, but there have been no ongoing negotiations. Despite the club’s defensive injury crisis, there have been no formal talks about bringing the 38-year-old back, with rumours of a return to the club fading due to past issues with the board and president Florentino Perez.

Being a player for Real Madrid for almost 16 years, Sergio Ramos could once again be seen wearing the iconic white jersey. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, while Ramos would love to return to the club, there have been no negotiations to make that happen. The 38-year-old, who left Sevilla in the summer, is still keeping himself fit and has expressed his desire to rejoin his former club if given the opportunity.

However, the relationship between Ramos and Real Madrid, especially with president Florentino Perez, remains strained after his 2021 move to PSG. Spanish media have reported that the club’s board has unanimously disapproved of the idea of bringing Ramos back, which makes an immediate return unlikely. In the X post, he stated:

“No contacts are taking place between Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos over a possible return to the club as a free agent. Ramos would be open and happy to return in case of Real’s call, he loves Real Madrid, but no talks so far.”

By making 671 appearances, he is ranked at fourth in the club’s all-time list behind Raúl, Casillas, and Sanchís. The defender scored 101 goals, a remarkable feat for his position. Ramos was pivotal in securing four UEFA Champions League titles, including the historic La Décima, and led the team to La Duodécima and La Decimotercera. His trophy collection includes 22 titles: 4 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 5 La Liga titles, and 2 Copas del Rey.
