Rovman Powell is a Jamaican cricketer who plays for the West Indies and is a former T20I captain. He has played domestic cricket for Jamaica, Combined Campuses and Colleges, and Jamaica Tallawahs.
He made his ODI debut in a tri-series match against Sri Lanka. He made his T20I debut against Pakistan on 26 March 2017. In February 2018, the ICC named him as one of the ten players to watch for the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier. After the tournament, he was named the rising star of the West Indies squad.
In December 2018, he captained the West Indies for the first time in an ODI against Bangladesh. In January 2022, he scored his first T20I century, making 107 runs from 53 balls against England. In 2024, he was drafted by the Trent Rockets for The Hundred. He was named captain of the West Indies squad in the T20 World Cup 2024.

His maiden ODI hundred came against Ireland in 2018 in a World Cup qualifier and helped West Indies win. Rovman Powell’s Personal Life
Rovman Powell grew up in Jamaica in a small home with his mother, Joanne, and his sister. His mother was a single parent who worked multiple jobs to support the family. Their house was unfinished for years, and during heavy rain, water would leak through the roof. As a child, Powell would stay awake at night to push the water away so his mother and sister could sleep dry. He has said he felt it was his role to protect his family from a young age.
He did not grow up with his father. In grade six, a school assignment about fathers made him emotional. His teacher, Nicholas Dillon, became a strong father figure in his life and encouraged him not to let his past define him. They remain close.
Powell believed that either education or cricket would help lift his family out of poverty. He worked hard in school and focused seriously on cricket. He later earned a scholarship to the University of the West Indies and progressed through Jamaica Under-19 cricket before being picked by the Jamaica Tallawahs in the Caribbean Premier League.

Before this auction, he had been released by the Rajasthan Royals. Powell began his IPL career with the Delhi Capitals in 2022. He later joined the Rajasthan Royals for the 2024 season.
