RPF took major action at New Delhi Railway Station, gold, silver and cash worth ₹ 4.01 crore seized

New Delhi: Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized illegal cash, gold and silver worth ₹ 4.01 crore in a major action at New Delhi Railway Station. This campaign was launched on 5 September 2024 on the basis of reliable information. This operation is considered very important to stop the transportation of illegal goods in the election environment.

RPF recovered 24 suspicious packages during the search of several trains at New Delhi Railway Station. After investigation, 498 grams of gold bars, 365 kilograms of silver and unaccounted cash worth ₹ 85.72 lakh were found. Their total value was estimated at ₹4.01 crore. The Income Tax Department documented the goods and took possession of it for further investigation.

This campaign of RPF was part of the ongoing efforts to conduct the assembly elections held in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir in a free and fair manner. Illicit goods worth ₹12.86 crore were intercepted during the elections, which included narcotics, smuggled liquor and unaccounted cash.

RPF Director General Manoj Yadav appreciated this campaign and said that this action is part of the efforts to maintain the security of the Railways and the integrity of the democratic process. RPF not only ensured railway security but also prevented illegal activities that could influence the electoral process.
