RR New Captain: Riyan Parag will be the new captain of Rajasthan Royals, will take command in IPL 2026
RR New Captain : All-rounder Riyan Parag will captain Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2026. Ryan is sure to be made the next captain before the upcoming season, as Sanju Samson has now moved to Chennai Super Kings (CSK). 24 year old Parag has led the team before also. He did this last year, when Samson could not play eight matches due to injury.

According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, Riyan Parag was among the few players who were interviewed by head coach Kumar Sangakkara before appointing him as the captain. This means Rajasthan Royals (RR) will get a new captain and a new head coach after Rahul Dravid parted ways with the franchise after the 2025 season, when they finished second from the bottom with just four wins in 14 games.
Since making his IPL debut in 2019, Parag has played all seven seasons for the Royals. He got a chance to play in all their games the last two seasons. The 2024 edition was his best in terms of run tally – 573 – which he scored at an average of 52.09, while the strike rate was 149.21. Overall, he has played 84 matches for the team in which he has taken 1566 runs and seven wickets.
Samson represented Rajasthan Royals for 11 seasons and after the last IPL season he indicated that he wanted a change, and wanted to be released by the Royals. Sanju Samson was traded by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) along with two all-rounders, Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran.
