From this it is being estimated that the money was kept there for a long time.

What else was found in the search of Surendranath College?

  • Two AC rooms were found inside the premises, which had facilities like beds, expensive mattresses, pillows and attached bathrooms.
  • The college administration claims that these rooms were used by some influential people.
  • The controversy did not stop here. The news of liquor bottles being found from the college terrace and condom packets being recovered from the student common room made the matter more serious.
  • The most surprising recovery was that of a revolver, which was allegedly kept hidden in the student union room. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot and took the weapon into their possession.

BJP demanded investigation into the matter

After this entire incident, the matter has also taken a political colour. BJP leaders have demanded an investigation into the source of cash and the use of student union funds. Allegations are being made that money was collected on a large scale in the name of providing admission in the college. However, these allegations have not been officially confirmed yet.

What did the college administration say?

The college administration and some employees have also claimed that for years some people had been influencing the institute under the guise of student politics. There are allegations that many decisions were taken keeping in mind personal gain rather than student interests. It is noteworthy that after the court order, student union elections were not held for a long time and student union rooms of many colleges were closed. Recently, after receiving instructions for fund audit, this room of Surendranath College was opened, from where this entire story came to light.

At present the police is investigating the cash, weapons and other recovered items. Also, efforts are being made to find out where crores of rupees came from and for what purpose they were to be used. This matter is not believed to be limited to just one college.
