Today’s Sunday was very special and full of happiness for lakhs of poor families of Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given huge financial assistance to more than 2 lakh eligible families of the state under ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0’ to fulfill their dream of having a permanent house. During a grand program today, CM Yogi transferred the money as the first installment to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, which will now move towards realizing the dream of homeless families having a roof over their heads.

Amount of Rs 2000 crore released from Lucknow

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath released an amount of about Rs 2000 crore in one go at the state level program organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan (Gomti Nagar) in Lucknow. This money was sent directly to the accounts of the beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar was also present as a special guest in this program. CM Yogi also interacted directly with some selected beneficiaries from the stage. Apart from this, the program was telecast live at Kalyan Singh Habitat Center and other places at the district level, where local public representatives and officials were present.

Beneficiaries received first installment of Rs 1 lakh

Today, money has been sent to the accounts of more than 2 lakh families, this is the first installment for the construction of their houses. Rs 1 lakh has been transferred to each family today. Under the BLC (Beneficiary Led Construction) category of the government, the central and state governments together provide a total assistance of up to Rs 2.5 lakh. In this, the Centre’s share is Rs 1.5 lakh and the state’s share is Rs 1 lakh. The amount sent today is 40 percent of the total sanctioned amount, which will enable the beneficiaries to start the foundation and initial construction work of their house.

The main objective of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 is to provide permanent houses to poor and economically weak families living in cities. The responsibility of implementing this scheme has been entrusted to DUDA (District Urban Development Agency). According to the parameters of the scheme, the house to be built will have an area of ​​30 to 45 square meters. In this, it is mandatory for the beneficiaries to construct 2 rooms, a kitchen and a toilet. According to the rules, after receiving the money, the construction of the house will have to be completed within 12 to 18 months.
