Rs 2000 every month, 30 thousand jobs and full statehood; Rahul Gandhi made many big announcements in Puducherry

Puducherry: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made a big promise while addressing a public meeting in Lawspet, Puducherry on Monday. He said that if Congress comes to power, Puducherry will be given the status of a full state. Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government of Puducherry does not belong to the people here, but has been imposed from Delhi.

Sharp attack on Puducherry

Rahul Gandhi said that the Union Territory is being run through remote control. He accused BJP that local leaders are being completely ignored. Gandhi claimed that the people of Puducherry want to choose their own government, but their wish is being suppressed in the present system.

Rahul made many populist promises

In the public meeting, Rahul Gandhi made many promises for the youth, women and common people. He said that if Congress government is formed:

  • Unemployed youth will be given financial assistance of Rs 2,000 every month.
  • 30,000 new jobs will be created in public and private sector.
  • Bus travel will be free for women.
  • The age limit for entry into government jobs will be increased to 40 years.
  • Health insurance of Rs 20 lakh will be provided to every family.

Rahul Gandhi also promised that local body elections would be held within six months of coming to power.

Raised issues of development and corruption

Gandhi expressed concern over the current situation in Puducherry. He said that the industrial and textile sectors here are deteriorating rapidly. About 100 factories have been closed. He alleged that Puducherry has become a big center of fake medicines, but the government is not taking any action on it.

Rahul Gandhi also raised the issue of corruption. He claimed that 30 percent commission is taken in every contract. Recovery is also being made in smart city projects, roads, drains and schools. He said that the government is stealing not only from the public but also from the gods by grabbing the temple land. People are forced to pay money at every toll gate.

election dates

Voting for 30 seats of Puducherry Assembly will be held in a single phase on 9 April 2026. Counting of votes will be done on May 4. This rally of Rahul Gandhi is considered important in the last phase of the election campaign.
