Rs 245 crore released under Post Matric Scholarship Scheme, big relief to 2.45 lakh students: Dr. Baljeet Kaur

Punjab News: Another major step has been taken by the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to ensure higher education of students from the Scheduled Caste community. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljeet Kaur informed that an amount of Rs 245 crore has been released as part of the Punjab Government’s share under the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme during the financial year 2025-26.

Data of about 2.5 lakh eligible students received

Dr. Baljeet Kaur said that under this scheme, data of more than 2 lakh 45 thousand eligible students has been received, who will get the direct benefit of this amount. He said that this scholarship is proving to be a great relief for economically weaker families and this has reduced the financial burden of education on thousands of families.

The Minister said that it is the endeavor of the Punjab Government to ensure that no eligible student is deprived of his education merely due to financial constraints. He said that the Post Matric Scholarship Scheme is becoming a new ray of hope for thousands of students, through which they can give a new direction to their future.

Dr. Baljeet Kaur further said that when children from poor families move forward by getting higher education, it paves the way for the progress of not only their family but the entire society. He reiterated that the Punjab Government remains committed to promoting social justice, equal opportunity and education.
