‘RSS is a satanic organization, BJP is its shadow…’, uproar over Priyank Kharge’s statement

Priyank Kharge, son of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and minister in the Karnataka government, has called the Bharatiya Janata Party a shadow of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Priyank Kharge has also raised questions on the constitutionality of the Sangh. He has compared the Sangh to the devil. He has said that BJP gets its real strength from the Sangh. Instead of fighting BJP, political opponents should fight the Sangh and challenge it.

At a public event, Kharge, who holds the portfolios of IT-BT and Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, said the BJP gets the strength of its thinking from the RSS and political opponents should face its parent body rather than just its political arm.

Priyank Kharge, Panchayati Raj Minister, Karnataka:-
If there was no RSS, BJP would have been worse than JD(S). I can give this in writing. It would have been worse than the regional parties. What we are doing today is fighting the shadow of Satan. Who is the devil’s shadow? This is BJP. Who is the devil? This is RSS. If we stop fighting the shadows and fight the devil, our country will automatically become better.

Priyank Kharge, Panchayati Raj Minister, Karnataka:-
RSS is an unregistered organization. This organization considers itself above the law or the Constitution. It is good that all organizations come under the ambit of law and Constitution, whether it is RSS or any other organization. Are they above the law and the Constitution?

He also raised questions on the ‘Gurudakshina’ program of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. He said why no public responsibility is fixed for those who participate in this. Where does this Gurudakshina come from and who gives it? If account of other’s money is kept then why not the funds received by the company.
