Ruben Amorim comments add fuel to Kobbie Mainoo-Manchester United rift
Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has offered fresh comments on Kobbie Mainoo’s situation, further intensifying speculation surrounding the midfielder’s future at Old Trafford ahead of the January transfer window.
Speaking in remarks shared by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Amorim acknowledged Mainoo’s talent but hinted that game time must be earned on the training ground and during matches. “Of course I rate Kobbie Mainoo. But in the end it’s going to be the training, the games,” Amorim said. He also added that while Mainoo has not featured regularly this season, the young midfielder has already been given chances, particularly last year.
The comments come amid reports of an ongoing rift between Mainoo and Amorim, with sources suggesting the 19-year-old is unhappy with his reduced role under the Portuguese coach. Mainoo, who broke into the first team last season and impressed with his composure and versatility, has struggled to maintain consistent minutes since Amorim’s arrival.
